Eagle Sports 2 Styal 0

EAGLE Sports continued their impressive run to keep alive their hopes of winning the Cheshire Football League Divison One title with a Bank Holiday Monday win over Styal.

The hosts were comfortable in the first half and took the lead when Lee Boardman coolly slotted home a penalty, sending the keeper the wrong way.

That lead was doubled before half time when Owen Ellis finished well into the top corner, allowing Eagle to go into the break with a good scoreline.

The second half was a poor contest, with both sides lacking fluency but it was Eagle who took three points and closed in on their first ever league title.

Eagle Sports Reserves 4 Poynton Reserves 3

Eagle Sports Reserves took the three points in an open fixture at Thornton Road.

The hosts started slowly and fell behind when some slack defending allowed the winger to slot past stand in keeper Rob Hall.

They were level soon after though when Craig Bishop kept his head to place the ball past the onrushing keeper into the bottom corner.

Eagle then took the lead when Neil Wearing's cross found its way to Danny Burthem, who controlled well and fired into the top corner.

Bishop added to his tally when he added a third goal just before the break.

The second half again brought some slack play from both sides, with Poynton grabbing a goal to make it 3-2, with over half an hour to play.

Danny Nixon then sent substitute Joe Thomas away, who was then brought down and a penalty was awarded. Gareth Williams put the ball into the net from the spot restoring Eagle's two goal advantage.

The visitors came back again and despite grabbing a third goal, it was Eagle who held on for the three points.
