Warrington Town 0 Ossett Town 1
PLAY off success looks like Warrington Town’s only promotion hope after defeat to Ossett Town on Tuesday leaves them 12 points adrift of an automatic spot.
The Yellows suffered back-to-back home losses for the first time this season, but remain second in the Evo Stik League Northern Premier First Division North.
Warrington handed debuts to Conor Roberts and Robert Booth, but had Richard Wright dismissed in the first half before Ossett’s Bradley Kilburn bagged the winner.
Young forward Dylan Glass almost enjoyed a dream start when he fired wide in the opening minutes with the visitors’ only chance of the half being saved by Josh Ollerenshaw on 17 minutes.
Wright was dismissed for a sliding tackle eight minutes before the break, but Town went close through Scott Metcalfe and James McCarthy either side of the interval.
Glass fired wide from Ben Wharton’s ball in the 54th minute and 10 minutes later the game was settled by Kilburn’s strike.
With six games remaining, Town first visit Mossley on Saturday having won only once since defeat to leaders Curzon Ashton in February.
Town Ollerenshaw, Anane, Thompson, Roberts, McCarten Robinson, Booth, Wright, Wharton, Glass, Metcalfe. Subs Bowen, Ruane, Dawson, Gahgan, Corrigan.
