GLAZEBURY sit top of the Alliance's Division One after making short work of The Groves at Hurst Lane.

Dave Acton and captain Sam Stanier took the first two wickets, before Tom Wilkinson's two left the visitors wobbling at 37 for 4.

Jon Gibbons got in on the act, 3 for 18, before all-rounder Scott Sparks mopped up the tail with two in four balls to wrap up the innings for 67.

Glazebury reached 32 for 0 thanks mainly to Jack Warhurst, 21, and after a slight wobble Sparks rattled off the remainder of the target with an unbeaten 22 to make 68 for 3.

It was Glazebury's sixth win in seven games. They host Trafford Metrovicks on Saturday.

Simon Green's unbeaten 101 helped the seconds to a win at Bromborough in Division Four West, complemented by Phil McCue's 62 to make the 182 target.

Batting first, the Wirral side racked up 180 for 5 declared with captain Chris Ayre being the pick of the Glazebury bowlers with 3 for 24 in 15 overs.

After tea the visitors lost an early wicket to slip to 11 for 1 but incredibly won the game without further loss with nine overs to spare as Green (101 not out) shared an unbroken stand of 171 for the second wicket with Phil McCue (62 not out).

The former sealed the win and his ton with his 14th boundary to steer his side to 182 for 1 and an excellent 20 points haul.

Next week the seconds travel back to the same ground to face Port Sunlight.
