GLAZEBURY continued their impressive second half of the season against Old Parkonians.

They racked up a fifth win in seven completed matches as both sides sought to preserve their Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division One status.

Old Parks posted 175 before being bowled out in 31.1 overs, with captain Jack Warhurst taking 4 for 41. Fellow pacemen Chris Ayre, 3 for 53, and Tom Wilkinson, 2 for 27, chipped in.

At 50 for 3 in reply, a vital stand of 66 between Dave Mason, 46, and Wayne Hargreaves, 26, put the hosts on course for victory.

Mason was given LBW just short of his 50 and at 125 for 5 there was still a bit to do.

Another half century stand between Warhurst, 27 not out, and Simon Green, 24 not out, completed the job at 176 for 5 to give Glazebury 25 points, taking them above their opponents and almost to safety from relegation.

Glazebury’s seconds beat Mossley in Division Four.

Glazebury, who cemented fifth spot, were bowled out for 122, with John Acton contributing 36 and Dave Warhurst, 31.

But the Congleton side folded badly in their reply as they were shot out for only 66.

Sean Caine, 3 for 14, and Dave Nicholson, 3 for 9, did most of the damage.
