WARRINGTON’S hopes of promotion from Cheshire County Cricket Division Two suffered a monumental blow at Bollington on Saturday.

The hosts failed to deal with the seam bowling of Kyle Adams, 7 for 57 off 18 overs, as Paul Farrar, 2 for 15, and Brendon Morris, 1 for 14, weighed in to skittle Bolllington for a modest 116.

But, despite a solid start with an opening stand of 32 from Chris Kirby, 27, and Richard Heany, 11, a horrific collapse followed for Warrington when three batsmen failed to trouble the scorers and the rest fo the order failed to make it into double figures.

Warrington had no answer to the seam bowling of the ruthless Syed Khan, who took all 10 wickets for 40 runs, as they were bowled out for 70 and succumbed to a 46-runs loss.

Warrington’s seconds witnessed an attacking Bowdon side amass 243 for 6 at the half way stage as they slumped to a loss by 48 runs on Saturday.

Ian Webster, 3 for 55, was well supported by Chia Gaddipalli, 1 for 27, Will Fleetwood, 1 for 35 and Sy Hewitt, 1 for 45, but they could not stop Bowdon posting what proved to be a match-winning total.

After losing two wickets for three runs Craig Vansteenwinkle, 33, and Will Fleetwood, 60, put on 84 for the fourth wicket, but only Isaac Webster, 43, and Ian Sleigh,18, could add to this as Warrington were dismissed for 195.

With the first and second sides both losing, things did not get any better for Warrington’s thirds as the collapsed to a 33-run defeat to Oxton.

Warrington could not make a breakthrough until the late introduction of Allen Hitchmough, 4 for 33, and Ben McCarthy, 1 for 12, was followed up by Arron Chaderton, 1 for 21, to bowl the visitors out for 163.

Chasing what Warrington believed was a target well within their grasp, the only batsmen to master the Oxton attack were 14-year-old Tom Higham, 37, and James Lewis, 20, as the hosts came up 33 runs short of Oxton’s total.

Warrington’s fourths secured a draw at Upton.

Upton were batting at a run rate of three an over for most of the innings with Tom Fagan Hall, 2 for 42, Matt Jackson, 1 for 40, and Jon Burgess,1 for 54, keeping the hosts to 191 for 4.

Matt Jackson, 33, promised a good start for the visitors before they lost five wickets for 10 runs.

Fagan-Hall batted out the last few overs with Mike Cornelia, 16, to secure a draw.
