RYLANDS seconds were grateful to Sujith Nair for helping to rescue 10 consolation points in their two-wicket defeat to Mellor Division Four of the Cheshire Cricket Alliance.
Losing the toss and being asked to bat, the Warrington side were quickly in trouble at 30 for 3, before a strong partnership between father and son Andy and Phil Mansfield helped steady the ship.
A flurry of cheap wickets left the visitors on 71 for 9 before a 10th wicket partnership of 71 between Sujith, 39 not out, and Jordan Carroll, 25, helped Rylands reach 142 all out.
Sujith continued his devastating form with the ball, taking 4 for 54 as he ripped through the Mellor top order.
But even that effort, along with that of veteran spinner Bond Bateson, 2 for 13, was unable to prevent Mellor reaching that total with two wickets to spare.
