A COMBINATION of Paul Farrar's spin and Kyle Adams' all-round performance helped Warrington earn a four-wicket win in the Cheshire County Cricket League Division Two.

Adams' 3 for 56 opened the bowling account, which was followed up by a lethal spell of spin bowling from Farrar, 4 for 44, to help Warrington remove Irby for 187.

Adams continued his form with the bat, making an unbeaten 38 in an excellent 62 partnership with Mike Rudd, 65 not out, to help Warrington over the line with four wickets to spare.

Following suit from their first team, Warrington's seconds also managed a four-wicket win in a day for the batsmen at Irby, where the hosts declared at 291 for 3.

In reply Warrington lost both openers cheaply but Brad McIntosh, 53, and Jon Stoker's, 47, stand of 93 dragged Warrington back into the game.

This was followed by a 113-run partnership between Sam Houghton, 88 not out, and James Lewis, 68, to hand their side the win with a score of 292 for 6.

The third team fell to a 49-run defeat at Upton, with bowlers Aaron Chaderton, 3 for 31, and Allan Hitchmough, 2 for 36, limiting the hosts to 221.

It still proved too much, as Billy Gilbert, 47, and Dave Selvan, 38, top scoring as Warrington were skittled out for 172.

Batsmen were on top in the fourth's match against their Upton counterparts, who reached 226 for 3.

Warrington started their reply well with an opening partnership of 60 from Tim Palmer, 51, and Matt Jackson, 28, but they were left 18 runs short of victory.

The fifth team cruised to a 169-run win over Bowdon Vale.

Fourteen-year-old Isaac Webster registered his first senior century in superb form, reaching 152 not out as his side recorded 269 for 5.

Vale were bundled out cheaply.
