WIZARDS’ blockbusting back row forward Jono Smith was crowned The Co-operative Rugby League Conference National Player of the Year for 2010 at a star studded celebration dinner in Manchester on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old has been in sensational form this season, securing nine man of the match awards.
He has also helped himself to 23 tries in 19 appearances and landed 23 goals as well as two drop goals.
Club administrator Dave Whalley said: “He has been a constant menace to the opposition with his power and strength in attack as well as being a hard hitting defender.
“The whole club is really pleased for him and hopefully it is the start of a great week for him and he can help us to Grand Final glory on Sunday afternoon at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.”
