LATCHFORD Giants reached the North West Counties Cup final with a 26-12 victory at Thatto Heath.

Despite a nervous start in hot conditions, Giants grew into the game and progressed thanks to a controlled and powerful display.

Matty Nash crossed for two tries, with Jack Foulkes, Joseph Higgins and Sam Baker also crossing the whitewash.

Meanwhile, Woolston Rovers’ under 13s and under 14s teams also reached their respective cup finals with victories over Crosfields and Golborne Parkside respectively.

THEvisitors crossed on the final play of the game to level up a closely fought contest. Both sides contributed to a cracking game in sweltering conditions, with player of the match Ciaran Card and coach's award winners Thomas Ashurst and Jamie Shallcross crossing for tries. Card, Ashurst and top tackler Charlie Yeomans added conversions.
