LATCHFORD’S first home game in seven weeks saw them come away 24-18 winners against Spring View on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead early on, but Albion hit back when Connor Muir used his strength to fend off two attempted tackles to score out wide.

Latchford began to dominate in the forwards and were rewarded when Fast hands across the line allowed wing Luke Hickman to cross, with Lewis Wightman converting, from the touchline but with the half coming to a close, Spring View levelled the game with a converted try.

Albion added two second-half tries through Wightman and Hickman to hold on to a much-needed victory.

Albion came out fired up in the second half and forced an error in the opening exchanges which allowed them good field position and following some good runs by props Ryan Hickman and Ryan Skidmore, hooker Liam Sargeant found a gap and had full-back Wightman in support, Wightman also converting.

Any thoughts that Latchford would then take control were put on hold when the visitors scored a good try to reduce the deficit to two points.

The next score was to be crucial and came Latchford's way when Luke Hickman crossed for his second of the afternoon and when opposite wing Jamie Sampson scored soon after Latchford finally had breathing space.

A late score for Spring View was merely consolation as Albion secured a much-needed victory.

Redline Recruitment man of the match was Luke Hickman for his strong running through the game.

This Saturday Latchford make the long trip to Cumbria to face Hindpool with the coach leaving Victoria park at 10.15am.
