ONE of Warrington’s top amateur long-distance runners, Louis Blizzard, finished second in the women’s Helsby Half on Saturday.

Running a time of 1hr21mins on her 18th appearance in the race, Blizzard was just one minute outside her junior record at the event, which she has held since 1995.

Blizzard added the silver medal to last year’s wins at the Leyland 10K, the Leigh 10K and the English half-marathon.

She is now training for half marathons in Wrexham and Wilmslow in order to complete preparations for her 18th entry into April’s London Marathon.
