SOME old friends have been helping Warrington Wolves settle into their three-week training camp in Sydney.

Australia and NRL legend Andrew Johns has run through the first of his planned training sessions with the squad, and another slot is set up for today with the scrum half who set Warrington alight during his three-game guest spell in 2005.

Former Wolves winger Chris Hicks, a phenomenal try scorer in his time with and a hat-trick hero in the Challenge Cup Final defeat of Leeds Rhinos at Wembley in 2010, has paid a visit.

And English brothers Sam and George Burgess, two players who Wolves expect to face when they tackle South Sydney Rabbitohs at Redfern Oval on January 28, socialised with the group during a lunch break on Coogee Beach yesterday.

Wolves arrived in Sydney on Monday at 8.30am after a 26-hour flight that included stops in Dubai and Bangkok.

The players and staff were given time to unpack before going for a swim, lunch and an hour's walk to loosen up.

The second day, Tuesday (Sydney is 11 hours ahead of the UK), has included weight training, skills work and a short session on the beach.

The squad were preparing to head out for their Tuesday evening meal at a restaurant in the Bondi Beach area when the Warrington Guardian caught up with their activities.

There will be much more coverage as the week continues, both in Thursday's Warrington Guardian and on this website.

Any Wolves fans who have made the trip to Australia are welcome to send us their pictures and details of what they've been up to. Send by email to mparsons@guardiangrp.co.uk.
