LYMM member Mark Aitchison felt the heat when he was called on at short notice to appear in a potential ‘Action Replay’ feature for popular weekly magazine Angler’s Mail.

Ian Chapman recently contacted the club to find a suitable venue for a piece covering tench angling, and Lymmvale was selected.

I was supposed to do the piece, but as I couldn’t catch any and Mark is currently on fire, I asked him if he would be prepared to step into the breach.

A total of 19 tincas were taken during the session, Mark even catching to order in the presence of a photographer, which will reflect very well on our club.

Well done Mark, and thank you for your efforts.

Junior section manager Chris Finneran has been in touch to advise that dates are available in August for the youngsters to have free fishing tuition at Junior HQ Woodside Pool, that includes free tackle and bait.

Lots of catches reported this week on one of the north west's best kept secret baits.

SAE bait developments (saebaitdevelopments.com) have a range of baits which have been doing the business all over the region for a few years now, and this week I’ve been made aware that the recent capture of a couple of 30lb carp from specimen water Chester Lakes was a result of careful planning and generous application of SAE baits.

Sadly, the name of the captor still eludes me, but SAE owner Scott Eyre rang to let me know the baits are doing the job.

Mark ‘Kipper’ Bowden did confirm that he had taken a couple of carp to 22lbs 14ozs 0drs from Chester Lakes and bagged a seven fish haul from the Belmont Estate including a cracker at 21-12-0, again, all fish fell to SAE baits.

Also on Chester Lakes, 1toners field tester Wayne Hewitt used his commando skills to get up close and personal with a stunning common carp stalked from the margins on a 1toners tutti-fruitti pop up fished over matching bottom baits.
