WARRINGTON Rowing Club are celebrating success at the National Schools Regatta.

Holly McMullen and Claudia Wright powered to the gold medal in the girls’ 15-years double sculls event in Nottingham.

They showed power and determination throughout the premier national championships for junior rowers, going into the final as the fastest qualifiers from the semis by an impressive 12 seconds.

In the final, the Warrington girls established an early lead on the 1,000m course and went on to control the race to take the gold medal and the Wycliffe Waterman Trophy.

Warrington Rowing Club chairman Richard Sinnott said: “This is our first gold medal at the National Schools Regatta since 2006.
