Oldham St Annes 18 Rylands Sharks 19

RYLANDS Sharks progressed to the third round of the BARLA National Cup thanks to a last minute drop goal from former Warrington Wolves academy star Craig White.

Rylands started brightly when Andy Moulsdale raced 80 metres to the try line and the score was doubled when White went over by the posts.

Oldham took advantage of some good fortune to score a converted try to narrow the gap to six points.

A Moulsdale penalty gave Rylands a 14-6 lead but two quick converted tries midway through the second half gave Oldham an 18-14 lead.

A pinpoint Moulsdale kick was grounded by Walsh but Moulsdale’s conversion hit the post and it was White’s coolly taken drop goal that put Rylands through.

SHARKS continued their North West Counties Division Six campaign with a dominant win.

Tries from Leonard, two, Lawton, Froggett, Mason, Penny, Peers, Ward, Meacock, Riley, Barber and Harrigan as well as eight goals from Leonard put the match well beyond the struggling Scorpions, whose only points came from an unconverted try.
