Warrington 7 Widnes 15
WARRINGTON lost out in a full-blooded encounter against Widnes despite playing some of their best rugby of the season.
Assistant coach Stuart Coleman said: “This was a much improved performance, once we have sorted out a couple of defensive frailties I’m sure we are going to see a more successful second half of the season.”
Tries from both Widnes wingers and a third added in the final minutes was enough to see off a Warrington side that never really got going. Long serving Warrington number eight Wheatley replied with their only try of the game.
Warrington 2nd XV 0 Burnage 2nd XV 36
WARRINGTON’S second string could find no answer to the all-round strength of the current league leaders.
Their main weakness was an inability to execute the basics, which saw them leak three tries in the first twenty minutes.

TRIES from winger Nichols and two from Byrne gave Warrington a well-deserved lead.
Although the visitors replied with an unconverted try, the result was scarcely in doubt.
