HOLLY McMullen won a gold medal in her first attempt at the British Indoor Rowing Championships at the weekend.

McMullen, representing Warrington Rowing Club and Lymm High School at the Birmingham event, sealed gold in the women’s junior 13 individual event.

She rowed 776m in her three minutes on a rowing machine.

Her coach Martin Goswell said: ‘Having put in tremendous work in the past few months, it was a delight to see Holly's efforts rewarded by becoming the fastest junior 13 indoor rower in Britain - a truly exceptional feat.”

McMullen also gained a bronze medal in the women’s junior 14s with Daisy Dell, Hannah Furnell and Claudia Wright.

Warrington had a further medal success thanks to the women’s junior 16s team of Alison Bailey, Emily Clark, Beth Pickering and Frankie Sinnott, who took silver.
