JIMMY Lowes will not be travelling with England to the World Cup after stepping down as head trainer to concentrate on his club commitments.
Ben Westwood, who this week became the only Wolves player to be named in the 2008 Super League Dream Team, has been included in England’s train-on squad along with Adrian Morley and Martin Gleeson. All three are expected to be in the final squad, which is named on October 7.
Jon Clarke was set to be in the train-on squad but his World Cup dream is over after he fractured his arm in three places on Saturday.
Vinnie Anderson (shoulder) and Louis Anderson (broken arm) have already had to pull out of the World Cup after being named in the Tonga squad, while Ireland call-up Simon Grix may have to follow suit depending on the result of scans on the shoulder that he dislocated on Saturday.
The Wolves squad will meet for a season debrief on Monday and will then return for pre-season training on November 9.
World Cup players are set to return four weeks after the end of their involvement in the tournament.
