PHIL Archer completed his first Open Championship with a round of 77 on Sunday.

The Warrington Sports Personality of the Year finished the Birkdale tournament in 81st position on 24 over par.

Archer made a birdie at the first hole of his fourth round but dropped three shots on the front nine before making five more bogeys on the way back in blustery conditions.

It was the only the second time that the Birchwood Golf Club professional, who has previously appeared in two US Opens, had made the cut at a major.

Archer reflects on the Open in this week's Warrington Guardian, which will also include pictures and a report of the Birchwood golfer's appearance at Birkdale.
