WARRIORS of Warrington Swimming Club’s Aisha Thornton will be competing against members of the British Olympic team when she starts the British Championships today, Thursday.
The 16-year-old Great Sankey High School pupil competes in the open age women’s 1,500m freestyle in Liverpool today after going into the event ranked fifth.
The 1,500m is her strongest event and she qualified for the championships with a time that was an impressive 32 seconds inside the required standard.
Aisha, who has also been taking her GCSE exams this summer, will also swim in the 800m freestyle tomorrow.
She will be the only Warrior partipicating in Liverpool, although former clubmate and Great Sankey pupil Andrew Bushall - now training with the Loughborough swimming team - will compete in the 100m freestyle on Saturday.
