MARK Gleeson joined Warrington Wolves from Ince St Williams ARLFC in 1999 and spent nine years with the club either side of a brief spell in Australia.

Mark made his debut as a 42nd-minute substitute in a 32-16 victory over London Broncos at The Valley, Charlton, in August 2000.

He went on to make 153 appearances, scoring 15 tries.

Mark won Sky's man of the match award on full debut against champions Bradford in 2001.

Like his brother Martin he spent seven years of his junior career in Australia after emigrating with his family aged eight.

He signed for the Wolves Academy and featured in their 1999 under 19s Grand Final team against Leeds.

He briefly returned Down Under to play in Cairns, Queensland, but rejoined Warrington when Paul Cullen took over as coach in time for the 2003 season.

Mark made his England debut against France at Headlingley in 2005 and was generally used from the interchange, where his speed livened up the tempo of Wolves' attack.

A wiry and agile hooker who shares some of the natural footwork of older brother and teammate Martin, Mark made yards around the ruck with his jinking runs.

With a textbook tackle technique and a good distributor from dummy half, Gleeson made the second most marker tackles of any Wolves player during 2007.
