CARETAKER manager Sam Wilson declared himself “ecstatic” after watching Warrington Rylands come from behind to secure an important victory in their chase for a play-off spot.

Mo Touray’s second-half winner secured a 2-1 win at FC United of Manchester on Tuesday night, with the forward crashing home a superb finish via the underside of the crossbar midway through the second half.

It was a goal that allowed Blues to move up to third in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table, level on points with second-placed Hyde United with a game in hand.

It also allowed them to extend their superb unbeaten record away from home – they remain the only side not to have lost on the road in league football in England’s top seven tiers.

Wilson, who is currently picking the team alongside fellow senior player Dean Furman following manager Michael Clegg’s departure for Macclesfield, believes the players’ trust in each other and their game plan is what pulled them through having fallen behind on the stroke of half time through Charlie Oliver’s volley.

“We’re ecstatic,” he said.

“We spoke at half time about what was in front of us, our record away from home and that we just had to trust one another.

“Ninety minutes is a long time – they had a great finish and the crowd generate a very good atmosphere here when they’re in front.

“That was a good version of FC United so it was important we didn’t panic.

“We trusted one another, we trusted our game plan in terms of where we could cause them problems and the second half was evident of that.”

Rylands’ equaliser came courtesy of Florian Yonsian, who netted his first goal for the club by converting James Baillie’s free kick just shy of the hour mark.

The forward made his debut in the original playing of this fixture on February 17, which was abandoned after an hour due to an increasingly waterlogged Broadhurst Park pitch, and Wilson was delighted to see him on the scoresheet.

“It was a different goal than one we’d envisaged happening for him, but fair play to him,” he said.

“He created the foul that led to the free kick with a great bit of movement, then Bails has got fantastic quality and Flo’s got on the end of it.

“I know there was a bit of a debate over whether it was offside, but I know for certain Flo was onside.”

Blues have another chance to extend their unbeaten away record with a trip to relegation-threatened Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday.
