WE asked our Warrington Guardian Fan Panel members for their take on Warrington Wolves' victory over Castleford Tigers on Friday.

Four of our panellists responded - here's what Louis Banks, Peter Smith, Mark Robinson and Rob Croston had to say...

LOUIS BANKS

Going into the game against Cas, I thought they would trouble us more than they did.

That was not because we were red-hot, its purely down to Cas being so poor.

Young Leon was again a breath of fresh air and Toby King was looking for the ball at every opportunity.

Next week, we need to be at another level as Hull KR are a different level to what we are currently operating at.

PETER SMITH

A very solid performance against Cas with good discipline and defence.

Dufty and Currie were the pick but improved performances from Drinkwater (first half) and Musgrove. Ratchford's goal kicking reminded us just how useful he can be.

Hull KR will be a much sterner test but encouraging signs.

MARK ROBINSON

Yet again, another game that has left me scratching my head.

A large-margin win but another scratchy performance – I get it a win is a win and I’m even prepared to blame the weather but in watching other games, it’s same for everyone and I thought we looked flat at times.

Looking at other comments on stand-out players, I am amused Musgrove is not mentioned – from my view, I thought he was our most effective prop.

Had Dufty not scored that try, he would have got some abuse as he had two players outside him that he should have passed to – fine margins I guess.

Ashton took his tries well and as I said, a win’s a win.

Onto Hull KR – I think this will be the test of where our season is going and we really need to pick up on previous three performances.

We win by a small margin and play well or we get hammered – I really don’t know because so far, it’s hard to work out where we are at.

ROB CROSTON

There is a real sense at the moment that Sam Burgess is building something really dynamic, and the players are buying into what is being delivered to them.

For too long now, Wire fans have had nothing really to cheer about and there has been a lot of negativity in recent seasons.

We are three rounds into a new season and change has to start becoming positive. If there isn’t positive change, you just spend forever looking for the negatives.

Our team’s performances at this moment in time are far from perfect, but you can definitely see from the first three rounds there is a definite togetherness about them and you can see what Wire are doing in training starting to come to the fore.

When the players get more game time together, I’m pretty sure Wire will click into gear and show what they are capable of doing.

Warrington started slower on Friday night but once they got themselves into some sort of shape, they managed to get on top of a Cas side that were competing and challenging .

Matty Ashton led the way with his double. Stand-out performances came from Ben Currie playing his second game at loose forward, young half-back Leon Hayes and the likes of Danny Walker and Sam Powell helped to guide The Wire to victory on Friday.

Next Thursday is going to be a real tough test, especially with Hull KR losing to Salford this weekend.

Wire are more than capable of producing a performance to compete and win on the road but they know this performance will mean they can’t start slow and they have to be smarter.

Can the Wire send the Robins Bobbin’ along?
