COULD we be about to witness one of the greatest sporting triumphs Warrington – or indeed the country – has ever seen?

Tonight is the night for 16-year-old Luke Littler as the former Padgate Academy pupil heads back to the Alexandra Palace stage to contest the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship final.

By recording a seventh victory of the tournament, Littler, who turns 17 later this month, would become by far the youngest player to lift the Sid Waddell Trophy.

We will be running a live blog of tonight's action on the Warrington Guardian website, starting from around 7.15pm

Here is all of the key information you need to know about tonight’s match …

What time does it start?

With this being the only match on the schedule, we know exactly what time the action will get underway.

Make sure you’re in front of the TV by 8pm, which is when the players will take to the stage to get the action underway.

What TV channel is it on?

Coverage starts at 7.30pm on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Darts.

Who is he playing?

Standing between Littler and the trophy is third seed Luke Humphries, who was one of the pre-tournament favourites for the title having won three major titles – the World Grand Prix, the Grand Slam of Darts and the Players Championship – in recent months.

“Cool Hand” thrashed Scott Williams 6-0 in last night’s semi-final to set up the clash with Littler but regardless of how the game goes, he will leave London as the new world number one.

How will the match work?

Tonight’s game will be best-of-13 sets, so the first player to win seven sets will lift the trophy. Sets are won by being the first to win three legs.

If the match reaches 6-6, the final set will be a tie-breaker and must be won by two clear legs. If the score in the final set reaches 5-5, a sudden-death leg will be played.

What about prize money?

Having reached the final, Littler’s run through the tournament has guaranteed him an incredible purse of at least £200,000.

Should he emerge victorious tonight, however, his winnings will jump up to a whopping £500,000.

Is "Luke The Nuke" the favourite?

The betting is tight for the game, with Humphries the slight favourite with competition sponsors Paddy Power.

"Cool Hand" is their 4-6 favourite to win the match, with Littler rated as a 6-5 shot.
