WARRINGTON Athletics Club’s Tristan Tickle is celebrating a fine victory.

The under 11 won the junior event at the Cheshire 10K/10 miles Road Race at Arley Hall on Sunday.

His time of 4mins 04secs secured him the success by 18 seconds.

Warrington AC’s Steve Burthem competed for his second-claim club Spectrum Striders at the British Fell and Hill Relays at Braithwaite in the Lake District on Saturday.

The team, featuring Richard MacIlwaine on the first leg (51mins 01secs), Ran MacKay and Kate Johnson on the second leg (2hrs 42mins 52secs), Karen Foster and Burthem on the third leg (2hrs 40mins 39secs) and Julian Spencer on the fourth leg (1hr 15mins 09secs) finished in 240th place overall with a total time of 7hrs 32mins 41secs.

Meanwhile, Dave Gill ran in the high-class Leeds Abbey Dash 10K on Sunday, crossing the line in 570th place overall from 5052 finishers with a time of 40mins 27secs.

But it was not a straightforward effort for Gill, who had to stop for more than a minute to have a bad nose bleed, which started around one mile into the race, plugged.

Despite this, he finished second in the over 65s age group from 61 finishers ¬- losing out on first place by 28 seconds.

Following the selections by England masters Gill and Steve Watmough for the British and Irish Masters Cross Country International at Tollcross Park in Glasgow on November 11 there is news that Dave Watson has been selected by Wales for the over 65s race in the same event.
