LOUISE Blizzard returned to winning ways four days after her hypothermia ordeal in the peaks of Snowdonia.

The 47-year-old was first in the over 45s age group in the Forest Park Ladies 5K organised by Spectrum Striders, shrugging off being withdrawn from the Snowdon 7s by Mountain Rescue the weekend before.

She clocked 21mins 10secs as she finished seventh overall.

Fellow Warrington Athletics Club runner Claire Andrew placed second overall in 19mins 49secs as she won the over 40s age group.

Clubmate Sharon Taylor came home in 45th place with 26mins 24secs as the trio finished fourth as a team.

Previously, Andrew ran the Harrock Hill Race at Bispham Parbold finishing in 37th place overall with a time of 41mins 25secs to place third woman and second over 40 woman.

There has been plenty more action for Warrington AC competitors too.

Katie Lowery took part in the 1500m at the British Athletics Championships at Sportcity Manchester, taking sixth place in her heat with 4mins 22.17secs which improved her personal best time achieved a week earlier.

Second-claim Warrington AC athlete Georgina Walker, competing under her first-claim club Lymm Runners, finished 46th in the Mobberley Round the Runway 5 miles road race in 34mins 54secs to finish fourth woman and win the over 45s women’s age group.

Dave Norman was 21st in the Wavertree Mystery 5K Road Race with 18mins 33secs to finish second in the over 60s age group.

Three of the club’s master athletes took part in the Sale Sizzler 5K Road Race organised by Sale Harriers, with Colin Bishop leading them home in finishing in 76th place with 18mins 36secs to win the over 60s age group.

Husband and wife Mark and Anne Gregory placed 203rd and 204th in 22mins 22secs, with Anne just ahead. She was 42nd woman and fourth over 50, while Mark was 12th over 50s man.

Chris Fance took part in the historic 137th edition of the Wenlock Olympian Games at Much Wenlock in Shropshire and came home with two medals.

In the shot putt he threw a personal best 7.44m to take the bronze medal and in the 800m he won the silver medal with 2mins 18.2secs.

Two Warrington AC athletes took part in the Robbie Webster Wobbler around Frodsham Hill, with Steve Burthem finishing 38th in 48mins 46secs while Faith Roberts was 77th overall in 59mins 33secs placing her as 16th woman.
