FIVE Warrington Athletics Club runners contested events in the English Schools Track and Field Championships at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham at the weekend.

Jack Marwood, Esme Heavy and Caleb Adelani competed in finals for Cheshire Schools, while Lewis Shaw represented Merseyside Schools in a medal decider.

Marwood finished 10th in a tight intermediate boys 3000m in 9mins 00.66secs.

In the intermediate boys 100m hurdles final, Shaw was eighth in 13.56secs ¬- the same time as seventh place. He was the fastest non-automatic qualifier when he finished fourth in his heat in 13.62secs the day before.

Caleb Adelani’s personal best 23.70secs in Friday’s heat took him through to the junior boys 200m final as a non-automatic qualifier and then came home sixth in 23.86secs, just 0.25 seconds away from the bronze medal.

Olivia Crawford missed out on a place in the junior girls 75m hurdles final by 6/100ths of a second when she finished fifth in her heat.
