SUCCESS was achieved by Warrington Athletics Club members in the Cheshire Track and Field Athletics Championships at Ellesmere Port over the weekend.

On Saturday, the hottest day of the year so far, gold medals were won by Jake Sands, Caleb Adelani, Oliver Davenport, Jacob Pryor and Esme Heavey.

Under 17s man Sands won the hammer with a throw of 32.27m, Adelani succeeded in the under 15s boys' 300m with 38.68secs, Davenport was triumphant in the under 13s boys' 1500m in a personal best 4mins 58.79secs, Pryor took the honours in the under 17s men’s 1500m in 4mins 34.04secs and Esme Heavey was tops in the under 17s women’s 1500m in 4mins 40.11secs.

Silver medals were won by Chris Fance in the senior men’s hammer with 13.78m, Lisa Halliday in the under 20s women’s 400m hurdles with a pb 65.28secs, Thomas Darbyshire in the under 15s boys' discus with 17.12m, Hilary Lam in the under 15s girls' 100m in a pb 13.65secs, Harry Millar in the under 13s boys' 1500m in 5mins 25.73secs, Hannah Hull in under 17s women’s 1500m in a pb 4mins 58.78secs and Ellen Turnbull in the under 20s women’s 1500m in 5mins 35.93secs.

Bronze medals were won by Emily Kinsey in the under 15s girls' 1500m in 5mins 17.46secs and Ellie Barker in the under 15s girls' 300m in 44.12secs.

On Sunday, gold medals were achieved by Thomas Darbyshire in the under 15s boys' shot putt with 6.74m, Imogen Wharton in the under 17s women’s 3000m in a debut 10mins 43.08secs, Ellie Barker in the under 15s girls' javelin with 21.24m, Leah Poole in the under 13s girls' 150m in a pb 21.74secs, over 65 David Gill in the senior men’s 3000m steeplechase in 13mins 58.05secs, Olivia Crawford in the under 15s girls 75m hurdles in a pb 11.87secs, Louis Green in the under 13s boys' high jump with 1.35m, Abigail Adelani in the under 15s girls' shot putt with a pb 8.45m, Ben Pucill in the under 20s men’s 800m in 2mins 01.81secs, Esme Heavey in the under 17s women’s 800m in 2mins 16.11secs and Ruben Evans-Guillen in under 13s javelin with a pb 23.16m.

Second claim member Evie Schofield, running for Trafford AC, won the under 17s women’s 200m in a pb 26.06secs.

Silver medals were won by over 55 athlete John Nichols in the senior men’s shot putt with 11.64m, Grace Southerst in the under 13s girls' javelin with 14.43m, Tallie Wing Lam Sze in the under 15s girls 200m in a pb 27.36secs, Caleb Adelani in the under 15s boys' 200m in 23.89m, Leon Pritchard in the under 17s men’s 200m in a pb 26.00secs, Euan Lawton in the under 13s boys' 800m in 2mins 24.24secs, Eva Hayes in the under 13s girls' 800m in a pb 2mins 36.24secs and Sarah Ashcroft in the under 15s girls' 800m in a pb 2mins 23.33secs.

Bronze medals were won by Cova Ko in the under 20s women’s long jump with 4.37m and Alex Farrell with a pb 1min 56.44secs in the under 11s boys' 600m.

Warrington AC’s Lewis Shaw won the under 17 men’s 100m hurdles at the Merseyside Championships on Sunday with a pb of 13.71secs.

Elsewhere, Daniel Schofield finished third in the Warrington Running Club 5 Miles Trail Race on Saturday with 29mins 48secs, while Brian Shaw finished in 108th place in 51mins 54secs.

Also running was Georgina Walker, coach to Warrington AC under 11s, who finished in 11th place overall in 35mins 57secs running for Lymm Runners.

Two Warrington Athletics Club under 11s brothers took part the Mow Cop Killer Mile fun race near Stoke-on-Trent, over a 0.75 mile course.

Edward Maddocks was 16th overall in 7mins while his brother Daniel finished 35th overall in 8mins 14secs, placing them 10th and 22nd in their age group.

The boys' mum Jo, who runs for Lymm Runners, ran in the Killer Mile finishing in 81st place in 13mins 33secs to place fourth in the over 40s women.
