YOUNGSTERS achieved new highs while representing Warrington Athletics Club at the weekend.

Four from the club took part in the Trafford Athletics Club Medal Meeting held at Longford Stadium, Trafford, on Monday, with some recording personal bests.

Under 15 Ellie Barker's success came both on the track and in the field.

She finished second in the 300m with a personal best 43.55secs and also placed second in her pool in the javelin when she threw further than she has before in competition by recording 22.96m.

With the javelin event being held in two pools, Barker was the third best female thrower in her age group on the day.

Also at under 15s level, 75m hurdler Olivia Crawford crossed the line third with 11.96secs, missing her previous best time by just one 100th of a second.

In the 1,500m, Sebastian Hampson was sixth in his heat with a new PB 4mins 53.73secs which was the eighth fastest boys' time over the three heats.

Under 17 Efa Rees came home sixth in her 300m race with 50.39secs, which was the seventh fastest time in the age group over all the heats.

Meanwhile, Warrington AC’s under 20 athlete Lisa Halliday took part in the UK Youth Development League at Wavertree Stadium, Liverpool, on Sunday, competing for her second-claim club Trafford AC.

She had to battle horrendous wet and windy conditions in the 400m hurdles but still managed to record her second fastest time of 67.40secs as she finished in second place in the A race.

Halliday also ran in the 100m hurdles, in which she finished third with 17.25secs behind two Sale Harriers athletes and so took second place in the A race.
