STEVE Price says Sunday’s trip to Wakefield Trinity is a chance for his Wire side to show they are “here to stay” as a top-four team in Super League.

Wolves travel to Belle Vue aiming to bounce back from Friday’s 34-30 defeat to Castleford Tigers – their first home defeat in eight matches.

Another reverse on Sunday would mean The Wire will have lost back-to-back games for the first time since March, but Price says he is “looking for a response” from his players.

“We’re here to stay. We see ourselves as a top-four Super League team, possibly even a top-two team,” he told the Guardian.

“They are our goals and we’ll go out there on Sunday to live by them.

“Friday was a disappointing game after a quality one the week before.

“We did score more tries than Cas, but all the little parts of our game that we’ve been doing really well in were way off the mark.

“We’ve addressed it and we understand what we need to get better at.

“I’m looking for a response on Sunday.”

Kevin Brown is in contention to resume his role in the halves after his groin injury was shown to be minor.

The 33-year-old limped out of the Castleford defeat but has trained with the squad this week ahead of Sunday’s game.

Price admitted finding out the injury was not serious was a big relief for The Wire.

“We’re just glad it’s nothing too serious. Kev is a major part of our game plan and he was missed when he went off,” he said.

“He’s been first class for our team this year. His leadership of the guys is something people on the outside don’t see.

“He’s a first-class guy and he drives what we’re trying to do as a football team.”

Sunday’s opponents sit sixth in Super League but Belle Vue has been a difficult place to go of late.

Both of the sides currently above The Wire in the table – St Helens and Wigan – have lost there this season as Trinity look to maintain their push for a top-four finish.

Price explained what will be key to his side bringing the two points back to Warrington.

“It’s important that we control the middle third first,” he said.

“They will throw a lot of shape at us and they have a lot of big bodies through the middle.

“If we don’t control the tackle and get our ground work right, it will put a lot more emphasis on our edge decision-making.

“We’ve got really good defensive systems in our team and we showed that against Wigan.

“We know what it looks like when we’re at our best and it’s important we are at our best in that regard on Sunday.”

Kick off on Sunday is at 3pm.
