ONE of 11 players to sign a professional contract with Warrington Wolves for 2019 is Joe Kohe-Love.

If his name sounds familiar, that is because he is the son of New Zealand-born former Warrington Wolves, Hull FC, Bradford Bulls, Leigh Centurions and Widnes Vikings centre Toa Kohe-Love.

Connor Wrench, Josh Thewlis, Sam Thackeray, George Roby, Alex Pendlebury, Max Gilbert, Morgan Burgess and Joe Barnes have all joined Joe in signing a professional contract with The Wire's under 19s academy team for 2019.

They all featured for this year's impressive and unbeaten Wire under 16s academy side, coached by former Wolves prop forward Gary Chambers.

Those nine are joined on Wire contracts by Jacob Gannon and David Gibbons, who are brought in from fellow Super League clubs Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants respectively.

Here, we give you a flavour of the talent Wolves have just signed up to hopefully play a part in the cub's future for years to come:

MAX GILBERT, centre/back-rower:

A student at Wilmslow High School who has featured for his country in rugby union.

The back-rower or centre has scored three tries in five games for The Wire's talented unbeaten scholarship side this season.

Warrington Guardian:

It is his ability, along with his hard work and dedication, which has been recognised by Wolves' coaches during two years with the club.

Last season the former Stockport Grammar School pupil was a member of the Warrington under 16s team that ended Wigan's unbeaten two-year sequence.

JOE KOHE-LOVE, stand-off:

Started off at Rylands but has been with Ian Lomax's current Crosfields under 16s team since they started together.

He has scored two tries in five appearances for The Wire's talented unbeaten scholarship side this season.

Warrington Guardian:

Penketh High School student Joe, who challenges the defensive line and has a 'hit' in his tackling armoury, is the son of former Warrington Wolves, Hull FC, Bradford Bulls, Leigh Centurions and Widnes Vikings centre Toa Kohe-Love.

He lives and breathes rugby league.

MORGAN BURGESS, prop forward:

Award-winning Morgan got the season off to a great start with three tries in the opening Wire scholarship hammering of Huddersfield Giants.

The Cumbrian went on to score four tries in four starts, while he also made one appearance off the bench.

Warrington Guardian:

He has excelled at his school as well as with Wolves, having won the Furness Academy Sports Personality of the Year Award last year.

JOSH THEWLIS, full-back:

Wolves' leading points scorer during the 2018 scholarship campaign.

Oldham-based Josh, who studies at St Damian's RC Science College, bagged 86 points in six matches.

Warrington Guardian:

Twenty-six of those came in one match against Huddersfield Giants, courtesy of two tries and nine goals from 11 attempts.

He notched six tries in total while also landing 31 goals.

Here's what Pete Riding, Wolves' head of youth has to say about the 11 signings:

“This season has seen our scholarship team build under the direction of coach Gary Chambers.

"The side went unbeaten and as such nine players have earned themselves professional academy contracts with the club, having impressed with their performances.

"We are also delighted to have captured two upcoming talents from competitive Super League areas which is great news for the future of our club.”
