STEVE Price says every member of his Wire squad needs to be “on their toes” ahead of a gruelling Easter weekend.

The Wire welcome Widnes Vikings to The Halliwell Jones Stadium tomorrow, Friday, kick off 3pm, before visiting Castleford Tigers on Easter Monday, kick off 1.30pm.

With two games to play in the space of four days, Price is likely to utilise as many of his squad as possible in order to keep players as fresh as they can be.

He has been boosted by the returns of Ryan Atkins (abductor) and Ben Currie (knee) for tomorrow's game, with Dom Crosby set to be involved at Castleford after a three-game absence.

Josh Charnley will to make his Warrington debut against the Vikings after Price left Mitch Brown out of his 19-man squad.

Harvey Livett is the other player to drop out, with Morgan Smith coming in.

“We’re in a good situation where we’re getting a number of players back, so it’s a nice position for us to be in right now,” The Wire head coach told the Guardian.

“Everyone needs to be on their toes this weekend, 100 per cent.

“For players who don’t make the 17 on match day, it’s really important that they continue to show the standards and culture we’ve driven from November.

“We have a ‘team first’ mindset, whether you’re in the 1-17 or not.

“The guys have to continue to drive the standards and be a good person around that.

“I expect nothing different from the guys who don’t make the 17 on Friday, especially with such a short turnaround.”

Tom Lineham, who scored a hat-trick in Friday's 34-24 win over Wakefield Trinity, is also fit after picking up a hamstring strain in the later stages of Wolves’ second straight win.

Despite a much sharper attacking performance, Price says plenty of focus has been placed upon improving a defence that is set to be seriously tested this weekend.

Playing two games in such a short period of time has attracted plenty of criticism over the years, but the Wolves head coach says he is looking forward to his first experience of the Easter double header.

Many of Price’s coaching staff, including the likes of Andrew Henderson, Lee Briers, Jon Clarke and Kylie Leuluai, have much more know-how when it comes to handling the exertions this period can bring and the Australian says he would be “brain dead” if he did not take it on board.

“We’re starting to turn the corner, which is quite positive. I could feel it a little bit prior to the Catalans game.

“We completed high at the weekend, but we were very patchy in our defence which the playing group and coaching staff aren’t happy with.

“We understand, after our review, the areas we need to keep working hard on to improve.

“We’re looking for a lot better display in terms of what we spoke about in the video session, but overall we’re moving in the right direction.

“Widnes and Castleford both play a good, attacking brand of football, so we have to be better in defence.

“This is a big period for us and it can really set our season up if we do well, so it’s important we get off to a good start by getting a positive result against Widnes.

“I’m actually really looking forward to it. I’ve got a coaching staff who have been around it and understand it fully.

“I’d be brain-dead if I didn’t take their opinions about it on board, because they’ve been around it for a long time.”
