JORDAN Jones pushed older runners all the way in the Northern Young Athletes 5 Kilometres Road Race Championships on Sunday.
At the bottom age of the under 17s men's race, the Warrington Athletics Club runner was finally edged out of the medals despite his strong effort at Birkenhead Park.
He led for the first half of the race before Xavier O’Hare (Trafford AC) and Alex Doyle (Vale Royal) gradually pulled away to take the gold and silver medals in 15mins 47secs and 15mins 49secs respectively.
In a sprint finish Jones lost out on the bronze medal to Rocco Zaman-Browne (Manchester AC) as times of 16mins 09secs and 16mins 11secs were registered.
