IN-FORM hooker Daryl Clark pulled off a Herculean 68 tackles in helping Warrington Wolves achieve their first win of the season against Widnes Vikings on Friday.

Official Super League statistics highlighted he had made an heroic 60 but Wolves head coach Steve Price confirmed Clark's contribution was even bigger than that.

“That’s a great effort and it typifies what Daryl’s done through the pre-season," said Price.

“He dragged really good standards through our pre-season. He’s set himself up for a really positive season hopefully.

“And the amount of effort he’s doing off the ball for the team certainly doesn’t go unnoticed within our playing and coaching group.

"He’s a player I’ve always had a high opinion of and a high rap.

"Once we get players to have a little bit more understanding of our offensive work, playing to each other’s strengths, he’s going to boss them even further.

“He’s a tough guy, he likes to play tough and he’s doing a lot of really good things for us.

“One of his strengths is his running game. Once we understand to be able to play around that we’re going to be even better.”
