WARRINGTON Cricket Club's second team clinched a 38-run win at home to Cheadle's seconds on Saturday.

Warrington's first team match was washed out but the second team posted a total of 193 after an innings of 72 from Dave Quick and 47 not out from veteran Jon Conneeny helped them recover from a rocky start.

The hosts then applied the pressure at the start of Cheadle's innings, with H Morris taking 2 for 17 and M Gwatkin using his pace to grab 3 for 13.

New boy M Adams then helped to clinch victory, taking 3 for 24 as Cheadle were dismissed for 155.

Warrington's third team were beaten by five wickets at Neston.

Warrington crashed to 99 all out and, although 13-year-old Cheshire leg spinner Jordan Mitchell added to his 29 runs with figures of 3 for 24, Neston reached the target with relative ease.

The under 13s A team began the Championship round of fixtures in the Cheshire County Cricket League with an eight-wicket victory over previously unbeaten Elworth at Walton Lea on Sunday.

Matt Pontifex took 2 for 5 as Elworth were restricted to 85 for 9 before Tom Lees hit an unbeaten 32 and Ryan Gratton made 31 not out to guide Warrington home.

Warrington's under 13s development team beat Grappenhall by 27 runs.

Charlie Loy and James Mitchell both made 30 not out to helped Warrington to 102 for 9 and Grappers could only reply with 75 for 8.
