WOLVES' coaching situation for next year could be resolved within the next 10 days.

Wolves have started to make moves to finalise their playing squad for 2008 after the star signing of Matt King and they could soon be ready to decide whether Paul Cullen will continue in charge of the side beyond the end of the season.

A club insider predicted that 'the future of the coach will be sorted in the next week to 10 days'.

But Wolves are not believed to be the Super League club, which remained unnamed in Australian media reports, contemplating a big-money bid for a high-profile NRL coach. That club is understood to be Wigan, with Brian Noble's future at the club still uncertain.

Wolves are thought to be looking closer to home and recent good form could yet keep Cullen in with a chance of a new deal.

Michael Sullivan could have played his last game for Wolves after a badly broken arm almost certainly ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Sullivan suffered the fracture during Sunday's 42-6 home win against Salford and Cullen has paid tribute to the Australian hooker after he bravely made another tackle despite knowing his arm was broken.

Sullivan had a pin and plate fitted in an operation on Monday and is expected to need another operation to have them removed before he can return.

He was unable to leave Warrington Hospital until Tuesday afternoon because of a wait for the swelling to go down so a plaster cast could be put on.

Sullivan, whose Wolves contract expires at the end of the season, is understood to have been all set to put pen to paper on a move to NRL club Canterbury Bulldogs and the deal has been confirmed today, Friday, after a slight delay while his medical condition was assessed.

On whether he had played his last game for the club, Cullen said on Tuesday: "Possibly. He was in negotiation with us and other clubs because that was the criteria that we offered to the players.

"If the club for whatever reason cannot or has not put a contract in front of you at this moment in time, you are free to speak to whoever you need to.

"We have not blocked or barred any player from looking after themselves."

Wolves have released Richie Barnett from his contract and the winger has followed Mike Wainwright to Salford for the rest of the year.

Both players were out of contract at the end of the year and Barnett had not figured in the first team since the home match against St Helens in May because of the form of Kevin Penny.
