WARRINGTON Gymnastics Club enjoyed a medal-laden North West Open as club members picked up a staggering 40 medals.

Four of the club's gymnasts were crowned all-around champions at Wigan's Robin Park after battling it out against clubs from all over the UK.

Darcy Chesters dominated the FIG Espoirs category, winning the bar and floor sections and coming second on the beam to be crowned the overall champion.

She was followed by Lucy Swann in the regional level two Espoir competition as she came first on beam, second on floor and third on vault.

Another all-around champion came in the voluntary level five category in the shape of Mia Hampton. She placed first on floor and second on both vault and bars.

In the same category, Charlie Berry came second all-around after winning on bars and beam.

Katie Swann was crowned regional level 3 junior all-around champion after finishing first on bars, second on floor and third on beam.

In the same section, club mate Evelyn Kilikita had an impressive first competition for the club by coming fourth all-around, which included a win on vault and third place on bars.

Daisy Clayton fought off strong competition in the regional level four senior category to finish second all-around, winning a silver medal on bars and bronze on beam and vault. Olivia Souther was crown the floor champion in the same category and finished fifth all-around.

Jess Adamson won an impressive five medals in the FIG junior section, including a silver on vault and bronzes on bars, beam, floor and all-around.

Kara Heaton secured the FIG senior beam title, while Carley Briggs won gold on vault, silver on floor and bronze on bars to finish second all-around.

Nuala O'Donnell won a silver on beam in the voluntary level four section, with Ellie Schwarze scooping a gold on vault and silver on floor in the regional five age 10 category.

Meanwhile, four of the club's male gymnasts competed at the NDP tumbling and trampoline regional team finals in Birmingham.

Michael Gaffney, men's 13+ level two, William Minford, men's 13+ level two, and James Appleton, 9-10 years level one, all scooped gold medals while Tristan Franks narrowly missed out on a medal as he finished fourth.

All four have qualified for the national finals, to be held in Telford next month.
