MARTIN Murray knows the discipline it takes to shed the pounds, gain strength and maintain fitness — and now he wants to pass those tips on.

The Warrington-based fighter is setting up Murray’s Fitness Academy, based at Cheshire Martial Arts Studio, to give people the opportunity to train with a professional boxer.

The four-time world title challenger will be taking the classes himself three times a week, and will be joined by wife Gemma during the eight-week rolling programme.

Murray said: “Although it will be the type of training I do as a professional boxer some of the classes will be purely fitness and so it will appeal to both men and women.

“There will be standard fitness training, pads with myself, bag work, technique sessions and there will be some gruelling sessions that have nothing to do with boxing.

“It is boxing based training, to transform your body.

“There will also be advice from myself on eating the right food and a healthier lifestyle.

“The idea is that they sign up, attend for the eight weeks and then see the transformation.”

Classes will take place in the gym at Evans House on Norman Street in Warrington, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Those who sign up can attend three times a week during the eight-week course for an up front cost of £200.

Murray’s idea is to generate interest and then have a signing up day where people can commit.
