THELWALL’S Aidan Collins enjoyed a successful weekend at the latest round of the British Flat Track Championships at King’s Lynn.

After winning all of his heat races, beating the two front runners for the championship title in the process, former Lymm High School student Collins had the first pick of gate position for the final race.

After a poor start relegated him to fourth, he worked his way back up to second and was fighting for the lead with Oliver Brindley.

However, a crash involving Brindley and George Pickering caused the race to be halted with five laps remaining.

Collins again started poorly after the resumption but was able to finish second behind Alan Birtwistle, with Pickering coming home third.

Rounds Five and Six of the championship will be held on the weekend of August 13 in Amman Valley in South Wales, with Collins currently sitting third in the overall standings with three rounds to go.
