WOLVES head coach Tony Smith confirmed centre Ryan Atkins suffered a fractured finger during tonight’s win over Wigan.
Atkins, who earlier scored two tries in the 40-10 hammering, came off in some discomfort late on as Wire went two points clear at the top of Super League.
Winger Tom Lineham also didn’t return after a big hit from Wigan’s Tony Clubb and Smith provided news on both players in his post-match press conference.
“Ryan Atkins has definitely fractured a finger so we’ll have to see how that one settles down tomorrow,” he said.
“Tommy was walking and talking at half time but we’ve taken him to hospital, it was a big hit.
“We want to make sure he sees the right people but hopefully he’ll be OK.”
Centre Rhys Evans also took a few heavy knocks during the game but was able to play on, while Smith also confirmed Ben Westwood was “playing sore”.
“My heart was in my mouth for Rhys Evans a couple of times, we thought we’d lost both right wing and right centre but he got through it,” he said.
“Ben Westwood was playing sore, the ankle he had operated on has flared up a bit.
“Ideally we wouldn’t play him next week at Oldham but it looks like we’re going to have some players missing.”
