STEVE Critchley took six wickets as Stretton smashed Wistaston by seven wickets in Meller Braggins Cricket League Division Three.

Stretton, who are home to Chelford on Saturday at 2pm, made full use of the bowler-friendly conditions as they blitzed through the opposition for a paltry score of 48 off only 20 overs.

Critchley did most of the damage, recording his first five-wicket haul with figures of 6 for 25.

Support came from Clissold with 3 for 17.

The Pewterspear Green side knocked the runs off inside 10 overs for the loss of two wickets.

Andy Delaney was unbeaten on 20 and Clissold scored 18.

Stretton's seconds bowled Weaverham out for 124 but lost.

Bryan Jones took 3 for 30 and returning pace bowler Dave Smythe got 3 for 32 but Stretton fell short of the total and were bowled out for 103.

Top scorers were Paul Green with 29 and Toby Mullins with 26.

Stretton's under 15s suffered a last-ball defeat in a thrilling match against Neston.

The visitors were restricted to 107 for 4 and Stretton found runs difficult against accurate bowling and ended on 106 for 6.

Toby Mullins scored 40 not out for Stretton, who are at home to Macclesfield in the second round of the Cheshire Cup on Friday and travel to Oxton in the league on Sunday.
