GEOFF Platt helmed his Albacor boat to Fiddlers Ferry Sailing Club Kelsall Cup success on the River Mersey.
Only two boats managed to fight the incoming tide on the return leg from Monks Bridge in Warrington to Penketh, with the Albacor finishing less than 10 seconds ahead of Colin Howard's Falcon boat, Millennium.
The rest of the fleet finished five minutes behind the leaders.
Fiddlers Ferry Sailing Club's Falcon Open Championship takes place on Sunday at 3.11pm.
