LYMM Angling Club's Grimsditch is fishing very well for bream, with many caught around the 1lb to 1lbs bracket.

Pole methods are the most productive at the moment with waggler methods following close behind.

Carp action can be had but at the moment it is a little slow.

Village Pool is maintaining its fabulous reputation to fish well regardless of conditions or time of year.

The variety of fish in this water adds greatly to its appeal, with anglers not knowing what each bite may produced.

Founders Pool water keeper Jimmy Ashall reports a flurry of action from its inhabitant catfish, with half a dozen caught over a three-day period.

These fish were of varying sizes, which yet again demonstrates that they have successfully bred in this water for several years.

While on about catfish, expectations are high with regard to the monster moggies known to inhabit Crabmill Flash.

There is much evidence that there are a number of specimens around of just more than 50lbs, with many more in the chasing pack.

As previously reported this water opens to members on June 16, subject to an additional fee of £20.

Members wishing to pay this fee or wishing for more information on the water can do so via the PO box address.

Preparation work is nearing completion and the thanks for this must go to the club's estate maintenance department.

Under the stewardship of head bailiff Mick Gittins, night patrols have been undertaken and will intensify as summer rolls in.

Already poachers have been apprehended on two of our waters and such poaching is an arrestable offence under Schedule B of the 1968 Theft Act.

To those that are considering such activities, please be aware the club will press for charges to be made against individuals partaking of this criminal activity.

Subs can continue to be paid on Wednesday nights at Westy's (formerly Manor Lock) in Grange Avenue, Latchford, between 7.30pm and 9pm.

Also in person at Jim Shaw's tackle shop in Evelyn Street, Sankey Bridges, or by post via the PO box address.

I can be contacted on 411774 but be prepared to leave a message.
