WARRINGTON Athletics Club's Jack Gleave is now ranked as the fastest 13-year-old 800m runner in the UK after clinching three titles at the Cheshire Athletics Championships at the weekend.

Gleave won the 200m, 800m and 1,500m races in the under 13s boys' section in Macclesfield and his winning time in the 800m was the fastest in the country by a 13-year-old this year.

Sarah Lewis won both the under 15s girls' 75m hurdles and triple jump at the Cheshire Championships, while Luke Miller-Briggs won the under 15s boys' 100m and 200m with Steven Broadhurst triumphant in the under 17s boys' 800m and 1,500m.

Further Warrington victories came from Jason McGonigle in the under 20s 2000m steeplechase, Chris Wort in the under 20s triple jump, Danny Cliffe in the under 17s 3000m and Matt Jackson in the under 17s 1,500m steeplechase.

Adam Nicholls also won the under 15s long jump with Tom Jervis taking gold in the under 15s 1,500m, Dylan Moran winning the under 13s discus and Steven Darbyshire clinching first place in the under 13s high jump.

Claire Irons won the senior women's 800m, while Rheannon Rainford won the under 20s girls' 400m, Megan Tyler was first in the under 20s high jump and Lauren Clark was victorious in the under 17s hammer competition.

Warrington added to their 21 victories in Macclesfield with 23 second and third-placed finishes at the championships.
