A HOST of Warrington-based karate students enjoyed success at a European competition in Belgium.

Paul Graham, head coach of SKA England squad and chief instructor at Cheshire Martial Arts Club, took his students to the WUKF European Children’s and Cadet Karate Championships in Liege.

There were three silver medals, with 19-year-old Rebecca Fisher, third dan, clinching hers in the 18 to 20 years junior kumite and nine-year-old Joel Ecclestone, first dan, taking second in the nine to 10 years children’s kata.

The third came for seven-year-old Jacob Lewis, third kyu, who added a bronze medal in the six to eight year children’s kata to his silver in the same age group’s children’s kumite.

Ben Hutson-Redfearn, aged 14, 2nd Dan, placed fifth in the kata finals, while 16-year-old Jack Cooper, first kyu, also took a kata fifth place.

Joshua Lewis, aged 11, first dan, was seventh in the 11 to 12 children’s kata.
