WARRINGTON made the Cheshire Cup second round with a five-wicket win against Broadbottom.

Put in to bat, Broadbotton were under pressure from the start as openers Nathan Green took 3 for 17 and Ashley Scholes 3 for 44.

This was followed by the off spin of Brad McIntosh, 3 for 17, and Paul Whelan, 1 for 9, bowling out the visitors for 141.

Tom Clutterbuck, 47 not out, anchored the innings by carrying his bat. After loosing wickets in the middle order, Joe Quinn, 22, and Nathan Green saw Warrington home with 10 overs to spare.

In the league, Warrington beat Stockport by 86 runs.

They were in trouble until Liam Heaphy, 81, and McIntosh, 32 not out, took Warrington to 193 for 7. Nathan Green, 4 for 22, and Scholes, 4 for 19, blew apart Stockport.

WARRINGTON seconds slipped to defeat by nine runs to Nantwich.

Warrington were on top through Howard Morris, 4 for 21, and opening bowlers Simon Hewitt, 2 for 48, and Ryan Swart, 2 for 53. But a ninth-wicket stand of 53 dragged the visitors to 149-9.

Sam Houghton, 36, and Tim Rothwell, 19, set Warrington on course for victory, but they fell unexpectedly short at 140 all out.

The thirds won by three wickets at Oxton fourths. Tom Corroboy, 4 for 37, Aaron Soni, 2 for 7 and Raj Soni holding Oxton to 195 for 8.

A well-paced innings from 15-year-old Rob Dempster, 81, helped Warrington to 196 for 7.
