JACK Johnson earned the praise of Lee Briers, but the under 19s head coach felt Warrington Wolves were otherwise not up to scratch in a win at London Broncos.

Try doubles from Harvey Livett and Jack Johnson, as well as scores for Ben Stansfield, David Foggin-Johnston, Reece Brunt and James Jones sealed a 38-26 win.

“We have ground out another win but the players and coaching staff both acknowledge that the performance wasn’t upto the standard that we expect at the club,” said Briers.

“Our completion rate wasn’t as high as we would like and London were able to capitalise on this.

“The enthusiasm of the Broncos was very good and they deserve great credit for the part that they played in an entertaining encounter but ultimately the extra quality in our side shone through.

“The effort from the boys can never be faulted and we dug deep and got the right result.

“Jack Johnson was outstanding at full back, James Jones put in another very good eighty minute stint in the second row whilst substitutes Andy Philbin and Connor Adams also had good games.

“We set off at 6am and arrived back at 8pm which made it a very long day; the trip wasn’t all smooth but the attitude and behaviour of the players was exemplary and they once again were a credit to the club.”

Briers takes his side to Castleford Tigers on Saturday.

“We will prepare well in the week to ensure we are ready for what will be a tough game,” he added.
