WARRINGTON Wolves loose forward Simon Grix is heading to hospital with a fractured fibula and tibia in his left leg.
After a terrific charge to the try line his path was blocked by Samoan prop Mose Masoe and as Grix's body keeled over backwards his left leg became trapped in the 17th minute of the first half of tonight's Super League clash with St Helens at Langtree Park.
Wolves players were in the wars in the first half, with hooker Michael Monaghan departing ina daze and back rower Ben Westwood also leaving the field with a calf muscle tear in a period in which Tony Smith's team established a commanding 22-6 lead.
Warrington led 23-12 at half time, tries coming from Stefan Ratchford, Michael Monaghan, Gareth O'Brien, Joel Monaghan with Stefan Ratchford converting three and Richie Myler adding a drop goal.
With only 15 men to work with in the second half, Wolves scored 16 extra points through Myler, Ryan Atkins and Joel Monaghan's 100th Super League try.
