GLAZEBURY’S recent run of good form ended with defeat against Wistaston in Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division One.

Wistaston took firm control in the early exchanges, with James Hogben removing the Glazebury top four batsmen to leave them 26 for 4.

The recovery was instigated by Dean and Chris Lord as the father-son partnership added 66 for the fifth wicket before the latter was out with the score on 92.

Lord junior continued the counter-attack, however, as he made his second half-century in three weeks with a classy 59 that included eight fours and three sixes.

However, the hosts regained control to dismiss Glazebury for 115.

Early strikes from Sam Stanier and Dave Acton left Wistaston 14 for 2 but the home team kept their nerve and got home on 116 for 5 to leave Glazebury still waiting to make mathematically certain of being safe from relegation.

The second XI's Division Four game at home to Stretton was a victim of the weather.
