WARRINGTON men’s hockey team secured a routine 5-1 win over Wigan to keep themselves in pole position in the title race with two games remaining.

Tom Yates, two, Ian Sleigh, Tim Rothwell and Steve Worrall all found the net.

Warrington take on second place Cheetham Hill on Saturday, 2.15pm, at Priestley College, knowing a win would confirm them as champions.

The men’s second team drew 1-1 in a friendly with Winnington Park, who they face again in their final league game of the season in two weeks.

Gavin Brown put Geoff Stott’s team ahead.

The women’s first team won 3-2, with all the goals coming in the second half.

Steph Lace and Louise Sullivan put Warrington ahead, before Carrie Wright and Kate Connolly linked up well through the middle to set Lace up for the winner.
